Blooket: A New Way To Review

Have you heard of Blooket?!

Blooket is a fun and engaging way to review concepts in your classroom - online or in person.

I wanted to know more about this game-based review, so I reached out to the Blooket team. I was able to connect with Ben, a member of the Blooket team, and he answered all of my questions!

Our Interview With Ben From Blooket

Amy: What is Blooket?

Ben: A new live review game for the classroom. Like other review games, the teacher hosts a game on their screen and students join in on their own devices.

Amy: How is Blooket different from other educational programs?

Ben: What makes Blooket unique is the variety of game modes and ways that students are motivated to keep learning! Students can create accounts to earn tokens for answering questions and use these tokens to unlock new Blooks (avatars).

Amy: How could teachers use it for different grade levels?

Ben: We've seen Blooket be successful at every grade level! The best way to find out how Blooket works in a classroom is just to try it. Different classes tend to prefer different modes and ways to play. Regardless, Blooket is great for reviewing vocab or studying before a test!

Amy: Can teachers tell which answer students selected? Do they get data on students or is this more for review?

Ben: Teachers can't tell what answers students select in the individual modes, but they can in the group-paced modes like Classic and Battle Royale. This is mainly because the individual modes can repeat questions if you go through them all (for extra practice), so the students may select a variety of answers over all the times they see questions. The teachers do get a bunch of other data though. They'll be able to see the specific questions students answered incorrectly to identify potential points of confusion. They also get general analyses like the students' scores and accuracy percentages.

Amy: Which devices does it work on?

Ben: Blooket requires a decent-sized screen to host, so at least a laptop is generally suggested. However, students can join on any device from a phone to an iPad to a Chromebook or other computer.

Amy: What is the cost?

Ben: Blooket is FREE to use for all our essential features. You can host games with up to 60 students and create unlimited question sets. Upgrading to Blooket Plus offers a few extra features like being able to copy question sets, organize sets in folders, and get early access to new game modes.

Amy: What updates do you have planned for the future?

Ben: We've got a lot coming up! Of course, there are the general quality of life fixes that are heavily requested, like the ability to create classes or have audio questions. However, we also have some new surprises like more Blooks and new game modes coming soon!

I am so happy I got a chance to connect with Ben as Blooket launches!
