Fun – but Low Prep – End of the Year Games

How to Make Magnetic Boards for Your Classroom

One of the challenges of using magnets in the classroom is having a magnetic surface. Some cookie sheets are magnetic and make a nice surface, but they do take room to store. If you are short on space, making your own magnetic boards might be a better option. It is...

How To Make Your Own Magnetic Poetry Activity

How To Make Your Own Magnetic Poetry Activity

Back when I first began teaching, magnetic poetry kits were all the rage - but they were pretty pricey. Today, they are still pricey - and harder to find. Teachers can make their own magnetic poetry kits for just a fraction of the cost of store bought kits! By making...

Poetry to Use in Your American History Class

Poetry to Use in Your American History Class

Understanding poetry is an important skill for students to learn, but if your students are like mine many of them "hate" poetry. From experience I can tell you most of the groans come from students who don't really know what poetry is. In addition, a lot of poetry is...

Save Valuable Time with Printable Labels

Save Valuable Time with Printable Labels

Organizing your classroom can be fun if you enjoy decorating - but it can also be very stressful during the school year. When you have a million things to do, printing, laminating cutting, taping, etc. eats up a lot of precious time. Instead of making card stock...

How to Write Multiple Choice Questions that Make the Grade

How to Write Multiple Choice Questions that Make the Grade

Hello! I’m Amy Mezni!

  • I believe that students need to be the leaders of the classroom. Even third graders are old enough to be held accountable and to take responsibility for their learning.
  • I do not believe that kids were made to sit in seats. They need to get up and move around.
  • Differentiated instruction is a must. I use guided reading and guided math groups to meet the individual needs of my students.
  • Helping a student to discover their love for reading is a privilege that I never get tired of.
  • School should be fun! We party in my class!
